L'Osteria - Siena, Italy

Adress: Via Dei Rossi, 79-81, Siena, Italy.

Summary: best taste and value in Siena.

Given the high praise of Lonely Planet to this restaurant, we made it our first try in Siena, opting to wait outside under the rain until the restaurant opens at 7:30 PM. Despite a cold reception from the owners, we were placed to a nice corner close to the kitchen. Our English-speaking waitress was very helpful and courteous.

Being in a healthy mood, we opted for a single appetizer, not intended to be shared; a bruschetta with pear and cheese. Nevertheless, she served it to us as a shared dish, which was very thoughtful. We also got fresh green salads which came nicely dressed, a bit on the spicy side.

The main dishes were tagliatelle with truffles and cheesy spaghetti. The tagliatelle with their unique garlic and truffle sauce were probably the best pasta we had in our life.

We got a caraffe of local red wine, which was cheap and good.

We definitely go again to this place.
